McGehee AR was founded in 1905 and named after Abner McGehee, a successful, local Arkansas farmer. The town was not fully populated until the Memphis, Helena & Saint Louis railway completed its line in 1906, the year the town was incorporated. It is said that De Soto may have passed through the future site of McGehee AR, and one account states that he may have died nearby. Check out our Best Western hotel in McGehee Ark.
