Take advantage of spring in the Rock. As Arkansas’s capital and largest city, Little Rock is full of entertainment districts, kid-friendly attractions, and a plethora of outdoor adventure. Get a glimpse of cultural Arkansas with a trip to one of Little Rock’s many fascinating museums, or enjoy the Natural State’s beautiful spring weather with an unforgettable motorcycle ride. Take the kids to Little Rock Zoo, stroll down the Arkansas River Trail, or head to Riverfront Park in late May for the 2012 Arkansas Riverfest – complete with live music, food, and kids’ activities. Don’t miss the action in Little Rock during your spring break, and start packing for The Rock.
Join the rest of the fest-heads this spring in downtown Little Rock for the 2012 Arkansas Riverfest. Celebrating its 35th anniversary, the Arkansas Riverfest is held at Riverfront Park along the Arkansas River over Memorial Day weekend. Get ready to rock in the Rock, because 2012 headliners include Lynyrd Skynyrd on May 26th and Little Big Town on May 27th. Don’t forget to fill up on delicious local fare, browse through arts and crafts for show and sale, and check out a few local music performances on the Riverfest stage. This is the largest event in Arkansas, so make sure you’re in Little Rock this Memorial Day holiday for the 2012 Arkansas Riverfest.
Of course no trip to Little Rock is complete without a trip to the Clinton Presidential Library and Center. Visit this iconic landmark from Monday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sundays from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Check out 2012 exhibits like “Play Ball! The St. Louis Cardinals” starting in early March, and “Year of the Girl” – a commemoration exhibit highlighting the centennial of the Girl Scouts until April 1st. Of course, the Clinton Presidential Library and Center always houses fascinating permanent exhibits like the Clinton Administration Timeline, and the popular full-size replica of the Oval Office as it was during Clinton’s presidency.
Grab something from the Clinton Museum Store in the nearby River Market – set in downtown Little Rock near the Arkansas River. During your spring vacation, head to the Little Rock Farmers' Market starting up in May, or stroll through the Ottenheimer Market Hall for a little souvenir from the Rock. When night falls, adults can make their way to the River Market District for great restaurants, nightclubs, and piano bars. Little Rock’s River Market holds even more attractions, so let the kids explore the Museum of Discovery, stop by the Historic Arkansas Museum, and get your camera ready for a picture of the H.U. Lee International Gate and Garden.
